Why so crabby?

Inactivity and boredom could be to blame

I am a bit crabby tonight.

Tomorrow is my first day back at work after a week and a half holiday break.

It seems like I should be justified to be crabby under the circumstances. Who wouldn’t feel cranky having to return to the daily grind after a long break?

The fact is, I am actually looking forward to tomorrow.

Huh?

Before assuming I am still dipping in the eggnog, let me explain.

Over the past week and a half, I could sleep a few hours later each day, linger longer over my morning coffee, and generally take my old sweet time doing whatever I wanted. I celebrated Christmas multiple times with family, worked out almost daily, and stayed up late most nights.

It sounds great at first — but there is a saying that “too much of a good thing gets really old.”

And this has gotten old. Really, it has.

I needed the break, but now I need to get back into a regular routine.

My crabby mood is not because of the dread of going back to work. Honestly, I enjoy my job. One year ago, I returned from the holidays to a job I detested. Now, I am grateful for the new career opportunity that occurred last year, which…
