Is there nothing else to talk about?

Have we become boring?

First, my apologies.

I tried really hard to not focus any Medium stories on the pandemic. But it is difficult, because almost every part of our lives revolves around it in some way.

We can all agree it is hard being separated from our loved ones. We crave meeting friends for dinner at our favorite restaurant or drinks at the local pub. All of us look forward to getting back out again.

But until this is over, I sometimes feel like not seeing or talking to anyone. It seems a bit jaded, but here is why I feel that way.

People have become very boring — including me.

Over the past few months, on almost every phone call, video conference, and social-distanced gathering, the topic of discussion is the coronavirus —and unfortunately, not much else.

Be assured I take this pandemic seriously and am just as concerned as anyone else. I cannot thank our essential workers enough for everything they do to keep our society functioning.

However, as cynical as this sounds, I might puke if I have to endure another conversation where someone drones on, speculating how long this will last, or when businesses will open again, or speculating on when our government officials will finally…
