Interesting perspective. I mostly agree with you. The current educational system is based on standards from the Industrial revolution from over a century ago. It has not evolved effectively to align with what students really need to know in the current Information Age. That’s why it feels like (and is) a waste to many people.
In my corporate training job, I sometimes ask my classes how many of them have a college degree that directly matches their current job. It has never been more than 30–40% of hands that go up, usually less than that. It’s like listening to the sound of money and time being flushed down the toilet.
