Hate doing something that is good for you?
Wash it down with milk
Sometimes we set a goal for ourselves that we know is difficult to achieve. Even when we clearly envision that amazing end result, the path toward that goal is littered with distasteful obstacles.
Four to five mornings a week, I have a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. It is a low-calorie, high-fiber way to start the day. I feel more energetic every time those ground oats work their way through my system.
There is only one drawback. I hate oatmeal.
Every spoonful tests my gag reflexes. That is not a figure of speech. It literally makes me gag.
I tried flavoring it with cinnamon. I tried mixing it with cereal or fruit. Those options made it look like it had already been through someone’s digestive tract — not exactly a visual feast.
Then I read an article where someone mixed yogurt with their oatmeal. That sounded interesting, so I gave it a try.
It worked — sort of.
It tasted okay, but still made the back of my throat want to heave it up again.
